It's Knot 2 Much ? Is it.

These days we ask ourselves question's about life, love, and everything else we can think of in hopes of being able to better ones self. Or if you're like Marie Antoinette you ask yourself this when making extravagant purchases. Introducing Look Boutiques top Item that makes us ask ourselves whatever we feel like. Knot 2 Much 2 ask. Knot2much2ask was born when best friends Helen Cavallo and Joely Fisher created their first bracelet "ask for joy."Actress Joely Fisher was away on location, far away from family and friends, and although she was doing the work she enjoys so much, she felt a lack of joy that is so vital to us all. Helen sent Joely the first ever "ask for joy" bracelet, which Joely tied around her wrist at once. When the pair realized they weren't alone and that most everyone needs a sweet little reminder, the words began flowing and the girls went on to create their jewelry line the "ask for" bracelets serve as tiny glowing post-its of good wishes that stay with you throughout the day. Since that first bracelet knot2much2ask has grown to include other bracelets, necklaces and earings, all emanating positive thoughts, declarations of faith, and just plain cheeky confessions. These are simple messages from deep within – use them as your guide for strength, clarity, wisdom and most of all, sanity. No one needs to tell you what to do – you know. They just try and keep you on track if you lose your way. Everything they make is handmade with love. Just ask and you shall receive.

Belle et Rebelle avec Heimstone

Heimstone is the creation of Best Friends Alix Peut 26, and Delphine Delafon 24. I recently had a chance to meet the girls and was blown away by how simple yet stylish they both were. The boutique itself is located on 23 Rue de Cherche - Midi in the Saint Germain -des- pres area. Upon entrance you are taken by all the colors and textures of the clothes. The Boutique feeling is of some best kept secret just about to explode with popularity. The clothes hang on beautiful antique racks. The windows are decorated with the skull of a cow that Alix brought back with her from a recent holiday trip to California. "I had to sneak it in because in France it would not be permitted to bring such a thing so I pretended it was nothing and kept walking" says Alix proudly. I had a chance to try on and see the Fall/Winter 08 Collection for Heimstone and Ladies it's amazing. You can see the influences of Native American culture in some dresses and the inspiration of Alix's trip to the West Coast. As we leave the boutique for some lunch at a yummy Italian Husband and Wife Restaurant I ask Delphine what are their major influences. " I like Vintage things and well I tend to be more of a tomboy and Alix is more girly so we design with that in mind". The Sun is pounding on us and it's time to say goodbye as we leave I ask Delphine , What's next for you girls she responds " My father is going to loan me one of his vintage motorcycles to put in the window so I'll be figuring that out" . I smile and think Belle et Rebelle.

YBCA presents

BAY AREA NOW 5
Inside/Outside
Jul 19–Nov 16, 2008

YBCA’s fifth triennial exhibition of Bay Area art explores questions around how to re-imagine a regional survey in the midst of globalization. What continues to draw artists here and makes the Bay Area a unique place to live and work when more and more of us are traversing the globe and becoming international citizens? How does the physical geography of the Bay, both natural and constructed, influence the Bay Area as a site of artistic production? How does the history of this region, including its legacy of social activism, shape Bay Area residents’ understanding of themselves and the rest of the world’s notion of this place? What are the contrasts between the myths, ideals and realities of the Bay Area and the aspirations of its residents? The Bay Area Now 5 (BAN 5) survey exhibition asks these questions to explore the many ways artists are influenced by their experiences both inside and outside of the Bay Area.

This year’s exhibition will feature a signature group survey of Bay Area artists organized by YBCA curators Kate Eilertsen and Berin Golonu. Twenty-two BAN 5 artists were selected after extensive studio visits throughout the Bay Area. Artists in the exhibition include:

Elaine Buckholtz

Look Boutiques Hearts Nicholas Kirkwood

Let's face it women love shoes. Shoes never question how skinny or heavy you may be. While one might not be able to wear risque outfit's it's safe to say that an amazing pair of shoes always fit! Look Boutique's top choice for S/S 2008 is Nicholas Kirkwood. Our Creative Director Carolina Amaris says it best " If Salvador Dali was still around and decided to make shoes these would be it". Kirkwood studied fine art at Central Saint Martins and shoe making at the esteemed Cordwainers cobbler program before starting his own shoe collection out of his home. His characteristically dark and feminine aesthetic from the outset attracted the admiration of style icons and fashion industry professionals. From the inimitable songstress Grace Jones, Visionaire's Cecilia Dean and Posh Spice aka Victoria Beckham, femmes of substance and style are avid fans. But it's not just, "Women with presence and intellect," (his desired audience) that are jumping on his bandwagon – luminary photographer and art director Jean Paul Goude is one of many to feature his brazenly sculptural heels in a recent fashion shoot, while the house of Chloe got in on the action with Kirkwood designing their Autumn 07 pre-collection. From vertiginous heels to platform wedges, his designs take direction from bygone eras, resurrecting noir mystique with a decidedly modern slant. With a fusion of unexpected materials including lizard, stingray, watersnake, python and buffalo horn alongside severe, architecturally inspired contours. The first collection, released in 2005, was more object d'art than wearable (none of the shoes were for sale), but nonetheless catapulted him to cult stardom, winning him the coveted Conde Nast Footwear Emerging Talent award of 2005. Kirkwood followed with a wearable range of dramatically angular heels sans decoration– his trademark style, that debuted on the shelves of exclusive retailers Harrods, Browns Focus, Selfridges, Dover Street Market and Bergdorf Goodman, as well as on the pages of international style bibles British and Italian Vogue, The New York Times and I.D
Magazine. "Decorating for the sake of decorating is a really old-fashioned notion, I'm more about form and function. Some of my heels look quite aggressive, but they are always feminine – not girly, you won't find any bows or diamonds."
